June Increase In Stainless Likely

In late May, prices for stainless sheet are steady, but June looks like there might be an increase with increased nickel, copper and manganese prices to blame for increasing surcharges.

Stainless prices were flat in May, but mills are increasing surcharges in June.

The AMM reports, “Demand does not warrant a price increase by US mills in the near term, market participants largely agreed, but added that mills are likely to take advantage of the uncertainty that the Section 232 tariffs have caused and attempt to implement an increase within the next couple of months.”

Stainless prices are expected to increase in June. One reason is higher surcharges.
